Has your provider ever told you “We don’t accept ‘Mirrored’ plans?” Here’s what that means. First, you must understand that you can buy a health insurance plan either directly from a carrier (such as Anthem, Blue Shield, Health Net, etc) or you can buy through Covered CA.
If you closely, you’ll see that all of the plans that are available though Covered CA are also available directly from the carrier. Those are “Mirrored” plans…. a plan that is available on or off Covered CA.
However, there are some plans that are available if you buy direct from the carrier, but they are NOT available on Covered CA. Those plans are NOT mirrored. Examples are Blue Shield Silver 1850 or Blue Shield Silver 3750.
